Region 13 Youth Assistance Fund:

The Region 13 Youth Board has set up the Youth Assistance Fund to provide aide to any youth showing an Arabian at any competition that demonstrates financial need.  To encourage youth to choose an Arabian as their partner, the Region 13 Youth Board will be raising money to provide both monetary and in-kind assistance to those in need.  Qualified applicants must reside within the Region 13 geographical area.  They do not need to be a member of AHA.  Assistance can be used for any show including unrated competitions, county fairs, 4-H competitions, and rated competitions.  For more information about the program and an application, please contact Jennifer at 219-689-1881.

Enjoy the Friday afternoon Youth Pizza Party, coloring contest, and T-shirt sales during the Sport Horse Regional Show.  Stop by our Youth Table for more information.  See you there!


Youth T-shirt Fundraiser & Promotion:

Be a Part of History! Each Year, Region 13 Youth Design a Unique T-shirt to Celebrate the Regional show.  Limited sponsor space is available on the back of these one of a kind shirts. Each year, more than 300 shirts are sold provided unlimited advertising of your business.  To reserve your spot on the back of the 2015 shirt, please email this form and $50 to the Regional Youth Coordinator.  Saturday is Youth Day at Regionals. Buy a t-shirt and support youth activities!


Regional Championship Activities:  Main Ring

There is so much more to do at the Regional Show than just ride! The Youth Club is offering lots of activities to keep you busy throughout the weekend. Check the Youth Activities section each day for crafts, muck bucket diving, coloring activities, games, horse facts, candy, and fun!

  Battle of the Barns:  Does your Barn have what it takes to be named the Best Barn at Region 13? Check Daily for activities to in which to earn points for the coveted title. Some activities require an adult partner so warn your parents, trainers, and coaches early!

  Ribbon Girls:  Do you love to be in the picture? High School Aged Youth are invited to apply to become Ribbon Presenters at the Main Ring Regional Show. Put on some stylish boots and a great outfit and help the photographer create the perfect win photos! Contact Jennifer (219-689-1881) for more information.

  Youth Pizza Party: Friday approximately 5pm. All Youth are invited to enjoy Pizza & Pop courtesy of your Region 13 Youth Board and local sponsors.

  Chuck-A-Duck:  Saturday immediately after the Afternoon Session Ends. Win $100 Cash if your Duck is the closest to the center mark!  Both Adult and Youth Divisions. Buy your Ducks from the youth during the show. Ducks are $2 each or 6 for $10.

  Hippology Contest:  Come pick up your copy of the Hippology test on Friday from 11 am to 1 pm.  Complete the test within 30 minutes to win a great prize! Reference materials will be available at the youth booth.  All participants will receive a gift for entering. Challenge your parents, trainers or coaches to take the test.  Score higher than your adult challenger and win even more!

  Treasure Hunt:  Saturday is treasure hunt day!! Stop by the youth booth on Saturday morning at 10 am for your treasure hunt list.  The hunt will remain open until 2 pm.  You only have one hour to return all the items on your list. Prizes awarded in 3 age categories. 

  Coloring Contest:  Color the Region 13 Logo and win a t-shirt or other great prizes! Pick up the coloring sheets at the Youth Activities Table. Winners announced Sunday Morning at 10 am.

The Youth who sells the most class sponsorships will win a cool Region 13 T-shirt!  Please ask your trainer, parents, grandparents, and equine businesses to support our Regional competitions.

Region 13 Youth Excellence Scholarship Program Guidelines (Y.E.S. Program):

Mission Statement:  The focus of this scholarship is to reward our youth within the Arabian horse community who have served and promoted the Arabian horse with their energy, idealism, and leadership, providing a positive role model for others.  The recipient should display dedication to their family, service to their community, school, and/or church, and academic responsibility.

Description:  Up to two $1500 scholarships may be awarded to the top two applicants from Region 13.  Application can be downloaded here.  Program guidelines can be downloaded hereAll scholarship forms, photocopies, and letter of reference must be mailed in the same envelope to Chairperson and POSTMARKED ON OR BEFORE April 30th.  Applications and letters postmarked after that date WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION. 

Criteria:
● Involvement in Equine Activities
● Leadership
● Sense of direction in furthering education
● Completion of essay
● Academic achievement and GPA.
 
Eligibility:
●  Applicants must be planning or currently majoring in any profession that requires college or other training equivalent.
●  Applicants must be high school seniors or freshman at an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school.
●  Applicants must have been a resident of Region 13 within previous two years and be a current member of AHA through a Region 13 affiliate club.

 

●  Scholarship receipients will be announced at the Region 13 Championship Show to be held in June.
●  Scholarship checks will be paid in the name of the school or the school and recipient upon enrollment for the fall semester.
●  Scholarship must be used in the year it is awarded.
●  Recipients are only eligible for ONE award.
